About the album
On his sophomore effort through La Reserve, Nightbird, Birdland Artist Richard Cortez is joined by pianist and collaborator Tyler Henderson. The two weave a wide array of material spanning from well known jazz ballad Body and Soul (1930) to lesser known repertoire such as Bird Alone (1991) by Abbey Lincoln. Tyler and Richard have toured California and the Midwest, playing venues such as The Catalina Club, The Black Cat, Caffè Vivace, and Crooners with their show that includes a selection of more than 300 songs with setlists that vary every night. Nightbird was recorded in Brooklyn at Big Orange Sheep in just five hours.
